Protecting Our Customers' Data is a Top Priority

In supporting our customers' compliance needs, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of cybersecurity. Many of our customers handle and engage with especially sensitive information, including Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Federal Contract Information (FCI). To further reinforce our commitment, this is a top-priority item in our strategy, and we are actively pursuing certification under the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 framework, enlisting the support of specialized CMMC consultants.

Our Roadmap to CMMC 2.0 Level 2 Compliance

We are proud to announce that Scot Forge is on track to achieve CMMC 2.0 Level 2 compliance, estimated in the first half of 2025. This certification is a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to ensure that our security practices meet or exceed the stringent requirements established by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).

Key Milestones in Our CMMC Compliance Journey:

1. Gap Analysis and Remediation Planning (Completed by Q3 2024):
- Scot Forge contracted with a leading cybersecurity firm to prepare for a full compliance audit of NIST800-171/CMMC2.0.
- We have conducted a thorough gap analysis to identify areas where our current security practices align with, and where they need to be enhanced to meet, the CMMC 2.0
Level 2 requirements.
- Based on this analysis, we have developed a comprehensive plan to address any identified gaps.

2. Implementation of Required Controls (Estimated through Q1 2025):
- We are actively implementing the necessary technical and organizational controls to ensure full compliance with the 110 security practices required for Level 2 certification.
- This includes enhancing our access controls, incident response capabilities, and continuous monitoring systems.

3. Internal Audits and Pre-Assessment (Scheduled for Q1 2025):
- Our internal audit team will conduct rigorous pre-assessments to ensure all required controls are fully implemented and operational.
- These audits will help us fine-tune our processes and address any final areas of improvement before the official assessment.

4. Official CMMC 2.0 Level 2 Assessment:
- We plan to schedule our formal CMMC 2.0 Level 2 assessment with an accredited CЗPАО (CMMC Third-Party Assessment Organization) based on government timeline guidance for 2025.
- We are confident that our robust security posture will meet the high standards required for certification.

Stewards Of The Environment

In 2019, we purchased 175,557,236 Ibs. of steel, all of which came from recycled steel and alloys. Additionally, in one form or another, we recycle any steel not sold to our customers. As a result, roughly 61.8 million Ibs. of unused product, or scrap, were recycled this past year: from the scale formed during forging to the leftover material or turnings from the machining process. Furthermore, we recycle other consumables from our shop such as used or damaged machine inserts, saw blades, electronics, batteries, gloves, paper and other office materials.

At Scot Forge, continuous improvement is key, so our teams are consistently looking for ways to make our assets more efficient. Here are just three examples.

Our History

We designed our 16,500-ton press to have three times the tonnage of our 5,500-ton press while using less average power through our energy saving tactics.

Our History

We converted old air compressors to far more efficient compressors in our Franklin Park plant and changed the hammers from steam to compressed air.

We have converted our presses to hydraulics to achieve minimal heat creation and energy use during production.

Scot Forge Nadcap*

Scot Forge's Nadcap Heat Treat certification applies to Aluminum Forgings only. Scot Forge can provide Nadcap heat | treatment for non-aluminum grades through the use of externally approved suppliers. If Nadcap Heat Treat is required, it must be specified on the purchase order.

Scot Forge's Nadcap Nondestructive Testing (NDT) certification is not automatically applied to all orders which require NDT. If Nadcap NDT is required, it must be specified on the purchase order.

Based on a more than 8D problem-solving model, Scot Forge's corrective action system has given over a hundred employee-owners the opportunity to lead corrective action request teams. The company's regularly scheduled Layered Process Audits involve all levels of leadership and provide key input to the effectiveness and sustainability of the quality system. With full company involvement and ownership, a commitment to quality is evident throughout Scot Forge.

In July 1992, Scot Forge was the first North American open die forging company to be awarded certification to ISO 9001. Scot Forge has maintained certification since that time and currently has the certification to ISO 9001:2015 as well as AS9100D (EN 9100D:2016, JISQ 9100:2016). Ringmasters and North American Forgemasters, both joint ventures of Scot Forge, are also certified to ISO 9001:2015. Further pursuance of aerospace products has led to Nadcap accreditation in both Heat Treatment for aluminum material and Nondestructive Testing.

All products are produced under ISO 9001:2015 standards and can meet other accreditations including AS9100D, ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register and the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) when specified by contract.

Even after a few years of integrating employee-owners from all departments within our company, I am still so impressed with our internal audit teams. While these teams obviously include very effective quality professionals, it is the preparation, care, seriousness and depth exhibited by our qualified internal auditors who come from all departments that can only be possible in an employee owned company. Their audit findings are meaningful, exhibit depth in the audit and are an important component of continually improving our company.
